DUTOIT | BUOY
Dutoit is an Australian design studio specialising in furniture, homeware and lighting. The studio wanted to create a motion piece that would highlight the quality, warmth and interconnected complexity of their BUOY walnut stool. With a minimal approach to the art direction, the challenge of this project was to capture the finer details of the product’s geometry / materiality and carefully control the lighting of each scene to draw attention to these standout features.
Once constructed, it was important to highlight unique elements of BUOY’s silhouette. The block background and dramatic lighting helped us to pull focus to the curved cutouts on the legs and backrest while also revealing details of the walnut texture.
One of the BUOY’s unique features is the complex and interconnected manner in which it is constructed. The story we created begins with a single connection and follows each interlocking step of the manufacturing process to highlight the craftsmanship and durability of the final product.
