How to start a project with us
Whether it’s the beginning of an idea or a fully formed brief, we’re always happy to start a conversation about your project. Chalk Company has been delivering creative work for over 10 years, so we’re happy to share our ideas and help you determine what an interesting and effective outcome would be within your cost and time constraints.

We typically take on projects between $5k - $30k AUD with the process taking between 2 - 5 weeks depending on the requirements of the project and the scale of the final outputs.
Our Process
Exploration is the most important part of our process and we often allocate around 50% of a project’s budget to this area. Projects are successful when both the client and designer are excited by the creative direction. By exploring many ideas early in the process, we create the opportunity for you to share what you feel is working and guide the project towards an interesting and elevated outcome.
Exploration begins with research / reference collecting, continues into broad design experimentation and concludes after we’ve actioned your feedback on the winning concepts and have created a strong artistic approach that will guide the rest of the process.
1 | Exploration
Once a creative approach has been determined, we will then expand on the winning ideas and prepare assets for production.
Depending on the project, this may involve sketches, test renders, previsualisation or storyboarding. This preparatory work is handled across structured rounds where you will have the opportunity to share your ideas and provide feedback on the design.
2 | Preparation
With all preparation completed, we then move on to the final execution of the designs.
For motion projects, the final execution involves animation + sound design. For stills, brand assets or design layouts, the final execution involves delivering you final quality, high fidelity assets.
After a final series of reviews, where you can request adjustments to finer details of the design (i.e. animation, sound or colour edits), you will be given access to the final outputs along with any relevant licenses.
